Friends of Daphne's: The Gift Guide

Rose Van-Eyk

When creating our gift guides, we quickly realised there was no one better to curate them than those within our circle, the Friends of Daphne’s. The customers, creatives and business owners who have supported us along the way. A celebration of shared taste, thoughtful gifting, and the wonderful community we feel endlessly grateful to have built.

The first to share her picks, is the beautiful Rose. Known for her iconic bows and wreaths, Rose is a graphic designer by trade which is how our friendship began. Working in fashion together many moons ago, we then went on to have our first (and subsequently second) babies within just weeks of each other. Comparing bumps in the office kitchen.

Rose is an incredible creative talent, with an extraordinary eye for beauty and detail. Her taste level is unmatched. So naturally, she was the first person I asked to help bring Daphne’s to life, creating the branding you see today. She has been the most patient, supportive and generous sounding board. and I feel truly grateful to have her in my corner.

Without further ado, here are Rose's picks for gifting this year:

1. Higurashi Secateurs by Niwaki: "I’ve now bought 3 pairs of these. After buying one set for myself and realising what a game changer a good pair of secateurs is, I’ve had to spread the love and buy them for others. Cutting flowers can be a bit of a pain…but these just make it so quick and easy. I’d seen an amazing florist with the same pair before and thought, ok I know these are going to be good. And they are! Also the Japanese are of course known for their quality blades."

2. Collapsible Food Tent: "This is the perfect “what to get for the person who has everything” gift. I stockpiled these to have in the present cupboard and for myself. They’re a beautiful hostess gift, or just any time gift. You can’t go wrong. I also really love that they fold down so storage is a breeze for what would normally be a clunky item."

3. Long Handle Basket Bag: "I bought this for myself recently (as I write this after all my suggestions I’m realising how obsessed I am with the Daphne’s selection) and it’s just great. I find the long handle incredibly handy, especially when I’ve often got a child under one arm! I would absolutely love to give or receive one of these as a gift!"

4. Vintage French Tea Towel - Butter Yellow: "I mean, what a great colour. Plus it’s so fun looking through to see if you can find an initial that belongs to a friend or family member. Cute cute cute."

5. Brass Pepper Mill 104: "A classic kitchen staple. I just love these and have for years. It’s a classic look and you’d have it forever. Such a beautiful and timeless gift that someone may not buy for themselves."
