The hand-woven Bolga Aku Basket is made from elephant grass which grows in the rich flood plains of the White Volta near the village of Bolgatanda in Northern Ghana. The Aky basket is a large bowel shaped basket which flares out upwardly. Perfect as statement pieces that can be used everyday for storage. Pop a tiny potted plaint inside for a greenery display.
The elephant grass is a 100% sustainable natural material. It is harvested, dried and finally boiled to dye. The weavers split each length into two then roll it to give it more strength.
